Murray Lake was created in the 1930's for the purpose of creating hydroelectric power; since then Lake Murray has become a major recreational destination. Wildlife that you may see include Great Blue Heron, migrating Purple Martins and other waterfowl. Lake Murray is a great fishing lake (tournaments every year) with several different fish species, including the Striped Bass, white bass, white perch, white crappie, and white catfish.
